Director, Marketing & Sales/Interactive Pharmaceutical
Fast-growing leader in the digital physician information industry seeks a Director, Marketing & Sales for its rapidly expanding team.
The Company
Custom Briefings ("CB"), a division of Bulletin News LLC, produces and delivers over 500,000 daily e-newsletters to a pure list of only professional healthcare providers, including over 350,000 physicians. The e-newsletters are delivered directly to the in-boxes of the membership of 23 major medical associations, such as the AMA, ACC, ASCO, APA, etc. CB is growing fast and will rollout additional information services for its large, specialized audience. CB has built one of the most valuable daily audiences of healthcare professionals and is now building a stellar marketing/sales team to generate revenue through digital advertising.
The Position
Based on the premise that pharma and device makers now demand proven, statistical performance, and that CB has the ability to deliver such results, we are constructing a first-rate, sophisticated online marketing/sales team with an exceptional understanding of the healthcare field and strong quantitative and communication skills. The right candidates will either be experienced marketing people with innate sales ability, or proven sales people with outstanding marketing ability. We are committed to serving advertisers and agencies through smart, data-driven, service-oriented representatives who can develop successful strategies and tactics.

The Product
CB briefings are delivered exclusively to the physicians and healthcare professionals of each CB-partner medical association. The well-read content is customized to meet the specific needs of each association’s membership. Each briefing is valued and read by the members of the associations, carries the valuable association brand, is targeted by specialty, and represents a unique and valuable advertising opportunity for our customers.
Requirements
- Exceptional understanding of the medical, pharmaceutical and device industry.
- A strong, working knowledge of the complex healthcare/pharma regulatory environment.
- A complete understanding of digital/online advertising, preferably through a proven record of success.
- Marketing mindset (qualitative and quantitative) but with an innate ability to develop and sell a sophisticated program.
- Proven service mindset.
- Exceptional communication skills, including written.
- Extraordinary attention to detail.
Location
CB is located in Reston, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The location of the position is flexible.
Compensation
Highly competitive base and full benefits. Strong performance will result in total compensation of $200k+ per year, with upside.

Circulation Marketing Director
As its core business, Bulletin News delivers customized, expert-edited news monitoring and analysis services to the highest levels of corporations and government. If you know what a clipping service is, you know what we are not; our briefings-based approach is more labor-intensive and the knowledge we deliver is much more refined. Clients for the six-figure services include the White House, C-suites in Fortune 500 companies and others who recognize the limitations of traditional approaches to media monitoring.
Growing out of that core business will be a group of less expensive ($2k to $12K per seat), non-customized e-Newsletters on a variety of topics. Those will largely be sold via direct marketing rather than our field sales force; thus the creation of this new position of Circulation Marketing Director for e-Newsletters. Were looking for a proven B2B direct marketer who understands publishing and circulation and who can connect mentally with highest-level executives in government and Fortune 500 companies. Its a roll-up-your-sleeves position that will not initially have direct reports and will rely on shared staff, but is expected to grow into its own unit. The successful candidate will be a mix of persuasive copywriter, list maven, excellent data cruncher, and finally someone whos comfortable on the phone learning why people did or did not buy. A bachelors degree and at least three years related experience is a minimum requirement, though candidates with degrees from competitive colleges and/or with more experience are more likely to be successful. We know all of that rarely comes bundled up together in a single mind but were eager to pay you fairly for your exceptional talent.

Director/VP Data Development And Analysis
This position will be responsible for overall management of the analytics products and the development of new services. This involves elements of research, quality control, formula design and enhancement, output display, staff training, and all other tasks required to keep BN best-in-class in terms of accuracy and utility.
This highly quantitative and organized individual will: work with the editorial and tech staffs to ensure accurate, consistent scoring and data capture; constantly develop and refine the logic and formulas that turn that qualitative information into data our clients can use to make informed decisions; stay up-to-date on the rapidly-changing media and open-source-intelligence landscape to enhance the company’s product offerings, including original research; and help the business development team explain the service to the market.
Position Qualifications: extremely inquisitive and quantitative, with experience in research and statistical analysis; ability to work independently and as a team; passion to remain current on the media and open-source-intelligence space; experience designing and implementing rigorous quality control programs; effective communicator and natural teacher; able to explain complex quantitative material in layman's terms for use by editorial staff and clients; bachelor’s degree required, relevant advanced degree preferred.
